PREDICTION--
Students predict what the topic will be about. Students predict what the book will be about.
CONNECTIONS--
Text to Self: Connect your personal life to the text. How do you connect to a character, theme, scene, and setting?
Text to Text: Connect another piece of text to this text. As you read, are you reminded of a movie, another book, or something you have seen on television?
Text to World: Connect to the world. Does the characters remind of someone you have met or seen in public? Is the theme of the book a hot issue or topic in the news?
SUMMARIZING--
Students will determine what is important in what they are reading and put it into their own words.
